Got into a good debate today with ram, madhuri and jifi. A good one after a very long time.
Not to mention, it was about the current state of affairs around us; the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai, the media craze, the system, the politicians & our own indifference amongst all these!
Of particular interest was when the discussion turned to our own indifference to things around us - what we could do and what we couldn't. While it started with our new grown capitalist mentality, we couldn't help relate and compare our selves to people in earlier times, particularly the ones who fought for our freedom. What is it that motivated them to relinquish everything and get into the struggle for freedom?. Was it really the ideology of a free country and the prospects of independent growth or was it the need for people to just stay occupied in the absence of (the much hard to find) opportunities for life and growth?. Was it the fallacy of purpose which drove people into committing or was it the substance in what contemporary leaders proposed that motivated them?
We could only wonder while our own opportunities and lives continue to behold us!!!
